Reviews:

The Best, But Doesn't Include Everything.
This is by far the best GRE guide on the market. The 3000 word list is definately worth memorizing, however I think it is a bit of overkill. This book provides everything you need to score high on the GRE quantitative. I used only this book for that and raised my score from a 400 when I first got the book to a 700 on the real GRE. I would recommend doing each of the mathematics reviews in the book first and then quickly going over each chapter one more time just to fill in any blank spots. Then study the tips for how to do the quantitative section in the first part of the book. If you do that you should know everything you need to know for the quantitative portion. One word of caution however, the questions on the GRE are different from what is in the book so I would use GRE Powerprep software to get the feel of the types of questions you will see. As far as the verbal section I would start with memorizing the top 300 words and then if you have time memorize the rest. Also work through each of the sections using the tips provided to help you figure out how to do them on the GRE. Finally, I would also recommend getting the newest Kaplan GRE book to brush up for the analytical writing section. Barrons doesn't have a lot for that portion of the test which is why I gave this book a rating of 4 stars instead of 5. Overall, good luck and remember that when you take the test the questions will seem really hard, but you will still get a score close to what you get on the Powerprep software.
The best GRE book in my opinion
This is the best GRE book in my opinion. The math section is a lot superior to the other books I used to prepare for the exam. The word list is huge but it does single out the words that ETS uses the most in their exams. The sample questions are also very good and represent what they will look like on the GRE. The writting section is also very good especially the tips for the analyses part. The only fault I can find n this book is that the math section can be a bit hard to understand especially if you have not done math in a long time like I haden't. I recomend thiose who are rusty in math to buy first the princeton review GRE book and get back into shape before going on to this one.
Good prep for the quantitative section
I also used Kaplan's book and "cracking the GRE" by the princeton review, and I can really tell you that Barron's is the best one for the quantitative section. All in all I had only one week to prepare for the Gre, still I scored 740 in the quantitative section. However, I didn't pay much attention to the verbal section, since this score doesn't matter for my application. Concerning the analytical section, I have to say that Barron's didn't help. For non-native english speakers, I'd rather recommend the princeton review's book for the analytical section.
Better then I had expected.
The essay section is not a very good help.
The vocabulary section is in debth but I have never taken the GRE and couldn't tell you if the words that this Barron's study guide wants you to memorize are really on the exam or not, but the exercises are challenging. Get the Kaplan GRE too.
great investment
so far, satisfied, but could be better. frequent word list is helpful, but they could target the less words, or could done differently...so I don't get discouraged to study...there just seems like too many words I have to study in the short period of time by the test!!!
