Reviews:

Easy exam to pass
I have taken 4 CLEP exams till now and this turned out to be the one I needed least preparation in. The exam is not that tough, its mostly about current research and general questions (general viewpoint about cultures, teenagers etc). The book gives u a base to go for the exam and if u guess right and eliminate the wrong answers, You should do fine.
Passed on 06-28-05
I studied for only 3 weeks - mainly during lunch. I read this book and divided my study based on my time and the course curriculum as defined by CLEP. I got 56. The Pass score is 50.

Most of the questions in the actual exam were not from the practice tests in the book. I also signed for practice tests from Prometric. Those tests only helped me understand the type of questions in the actual exam. Questions were more essay type. About 70% of course is covered in the book. Also, questions are not direct but indirect references to the subject matter. No questions about names of scientists with theories or about ear/eye.

Lots of questions were basic biology about genes and chromosomes.

My recommedation would be to study some textbook alongside studying from this study guide to score above average scores.
Great book!
This was the only book I used to prepare for the CLEP exam, and I passed with a 71! The great thing about this book is that it presents all the necessary material in a condensed format. I studied about 2-3 hours a day for 2 weeks before the exam, and that seemed to be enough.
The practice exams at the end of the book have some questions that weren't addressed in the review section. Don't let that worry you too much, though. If you know the review material inside and out, you should be able to pass the exam.
I also highly recommend buying the sample exam from the CLEP website. This was more representative of the actual exam in my case.
Aced the Human Growth and Dev.
I purchased this book and reviewed all chapters and tests.
I also had a psychology book by Morris which I had used for Introductory psychology. By combining this CLEP book and the text and 2 weeks of preparation, the test was easy. Made a 69 with time to spare. The Human growth test is an extension of psychology as applied to the various stages of development.
If you have taken an Introductory psychology course, it makes the job less painful. Good luck everyone, just do it, use a little commonsense and enjoy the success of your hard work.
Not good enough!
I studied this book from cover to cover, passed the exam but...... I guessed most of the answers and felt I just wasted 4 weeks of intensive studying for this test. There were so many questions in the test which the book did not cover at all! I wouldn't have passed without studying an online college course of Human Growth & Development at the same time of going through this book.
When getting ready for the exam don't pay to much attention to any of the human anatomy questions and also don't bother to remember all the names of the scientists and psychologists, this material is hardly covered in the actual exam.
I would definitely recommend studying other material and using this book only to revise your knowledge.
